Iron-on Rhinestone Transfer Instructions

  1. Select a flat porous surface to apply your transfer to such as a sweatshirt, a t-shirt or tote bag. Other non garment items are possible too such as place mats and book covers. Just be sure that the surface is porous and not slick or shiny.
  2. PLEASE TEST YOUR PRODUCT FIRST TO BE SURE THAT IT CAN WITHSTAND THE HEAT OF THE IRON!
  3. Heat your iron to a medium setting, approximately 350 degrees. NO STEAM. Place the fabric to receive the transfer on a firm, flat, surface.
  4. Press the garment flat and smooth.
  5. Insert a piece of PTFE (heat resistant plastic) or some other barrier between the front and the back of the garment so that the glue will not pass through to the back side. A piece of paper will also work.
  6. Peel the white paper backing off the hot fix rhinestone transfer design and place the transfer sticky side down on your garment. It may be gently removed and repositioned at this point if necessary. Check to make sure that all the stones are still positioned correctly. Make adjustments as necessary.
  7. Be sure you have the steam turned off and press your transfer evenly with the iron, applying firm, even pressure. Press firmly over each area carefully to ensure that all the stones have been heated and have had pressure applied. Heat each area about 8-10 seconds depending on the size of the stones. Reposition the iron occasionally to cover areas under the iron's steam holes. Larger stones take more time. Metal studs take less time and less pressure. Be sure you are applying pressure to smaller stones. Use the tip of the iron if necessary to press them down. It's a common mistake to skim over the larger stones and miss the small ones in between.
  8. The plastic will sometimes bubble or curl a bit. This is normal. Excessive bubbling and wrinkling may mean that you iron is too hot.
  9. Let the transfer, the garment and the plastic all cool to room temperature. Gently peel the plastic off the garment. The stones will remain in place. If any are lifted up, replace the plastic and repeat the process in the area where the stones did not adhere.
  10. Reapply the iron very lightly to the design to reset any stones that might have been loosened when the plastic was removed. Be careful not to push the stones out of place by moving the iron around.
  11. Garments with a rhinestone crystal iron on transfer can be machine washed on gentle and cold. Turn the garment inside out before washing. Dry flat.
